Ero s onoga svijeta (operni libreto)
Less well known is the fact that Milan Begović (1876-1948) is the author of the libretto of the popular comic folklore opera "Ero from the Other World" by Jakov Gotovac (1895-1982). The plot is based on a well-known and witty folk story, and the music is strongly interwoven and inspired by the folklore of the Dalmatian Zagora and other regions. The opera was premiered on November 2, 1935 at the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb. - Begović is one of the most important and prolific of our modernist writers, an innovative poet, prose writer, mostly playwright, theater worker and translator. His plays were also performed abroad, and his psychological drama "Without a Third", the dramatization of the last chapter of his extensive novel "Giga Barić", as well as the expressionist experimental drama "Adventurer at the Door" had a special impact.
